SaveV — Free Video Downloader
Introduction
SaveV ("we", "our", or "us") provides a browser extension that lets you download videos from Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter). Your privacy is extremely important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information is (and is not) collected, how it is used, and your rights.
Short version: SaveV does not collect, store, or send any of your personal data to any server. All video detection, URL extraction, and downloading happens entirely inside your browser.
Information We Collect
We collect zero personal information.
Local-only data (never leaves your device)
- Download history — filenames, platform, timestamps, and status of videos you downloaded. Stored only in
chrome.storage.local(max 100 items). You can clear it anytime from the popup. - Settings — your chosen default quality (HD/SD) and notification preference. Stored locally.
Data we never collect or access
- Your social media account credentials, passwords, or login tokens (beyond what's required for public API calls using your existing browser session)
- Private messages, comments, or non-public content
- Browsing history outside of the supported video pages
- Any data sent to external analytics, advertising, or telemetry services
- Personal identifiers (email, name, IP, device ID, etc.)
How the Extension Works (Technical)
To provide one-click video downloads, SaveV performs the following actions locally in your browser:

Captured media URLs are kept only in RAM for the current tab and are never persisted or sent anywhere.
Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not share any data with third parties.
- SaveV has no backend servers and does not send any telemetry or usage data.
- When you download a video, the file is transferred directly from the platform's CDN (Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, or X) to your device. SaveV merely initiates the download using your browser's native mechanisms.
- For X videos, we use your existing logged-in session to call X's public APIs. This is the same data your browser already sends when you visit x.com. We do not create accounts or store tokens.
- No advertising networks, analytics (Google Analytics, etc.), crash reporting, or tracking pixels are used.
Your Choices & Controls
- Clear history: Open the SaveV popup → Downloads tab → "Clear History"
- Change settings: Popup → Settings tab
- Disable the extension: chrome://extensions/ → toggle off SaveV
- Remove completely: Right-click the extension icon → Remove from Chrome
- Review permissions: All requested permissions are listed in the Chrome Web Store and in manifest.json
You remain in full control. Nothing is uploaded or stored in the cloud.
Data Security
All data processed by SaveV (download history and settings) stays exclusively in your browser's local storage. There is no server-side storage, so there is no risk of server breaches affecting your data.
Children's Privacy
SaveV is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used the extension, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

工作原理（技术说明）
为实现一键下载，扩展会在本地执行以下操作：
- 在支持的网站上注入下载按钮
- 通过 webRequest 监听网络请求，捕获视频 CDN 直链（仅内存临时存储，按标签页隔离，快速丢弃）
- 解析页面 meta、HTML、performance 资源找到视频地址
- 对 X 视频，使用您已登录的会话调用 X 公开 API 获取视频信息（仅视频元数据）
- 使用 Chrome downloads API 或页面内 blob 下载视频文件
数据共享
我们不与任何第三方共享数据。没有后端服务器、无埋点、无分析、无广告 SDK。视频文件直接从平台 CDN 下载到您的设备。
您的权利
您可以随时在扩展弹窗中清除历史、修改设置，或在 chrome://extensions/ 中禁用/卸载扩展。所有数据仅存在于本地。
